M.A. in Counseling with a K-12 School Counseling Emphasis
The M.A. in Counseling with a K-12 School Counseling Emphasis is offered online through Online & Distance Education. Most of our students are from rural areas in North Dakota and Minnesota. We also have students from Arizona, Oregon, Alaska, Nebraska, and California. Students complete practicums and internships in their local areas under the supervision of a licensed school counselor and the Department of Counseling. The time for completion of the degree is seven semesters.
A limited number of professionals who already hold a graduate-level degree in education, counseling or a related field are admitted as non-matriculated students to take courses that will allow them to apply for a K-12 school counseling license. These professionals need to follow the same application process as applicants applying without a graduate-level degree.
Online & Distance Education provides comprehensive information on the the program.
