M.A. in Counseling with a K-12 Emphasis Technology
Adobe Connect is the web-based conferencing tool used for K-12 synchronous distance instruction. Synchronous learning occurs when the teacher and pupils interact from different places but during the same time. Students are required to have a certain level of technology available to them to access instruction or they are asked to withdraw from the program including:
- DSL cable connection with specific bandwidth requirements
- USB port webcam and a USB port headset with a mic.
Wireless internet access will not support effective use of Adobe Connect.
UND uses Blackboard, a Web-based course-management system designed to allow students and faculty to use online materials and activities that complement the classes held in Adobe Connect. Blackboard enables instructors to provide students with course materials, discussion boards, virtual chat, online quizzes, an academic resource center, and more. It allows students to submit assignments, view grades, access course materials and communicate with the instructor and each other outside of class. Our courses require students to meet deadlines for assignments that are established in the syllabus and in weekly course meetings. All students complete the same work during the same time frame.
The UND Online and Distance Education web page provides specific information about technology requirements.
