A Rural Psychology and Integrated Care (RPIC) trainee started a group in a rural, partnering community. The focus of the group relates to bullying, body image, and self esteem. Teachers at the school along with the school counselor identify students that they feel would benefit from such a group and who they believe would be good contributing members to the group. After students are identified, they talk with the trainee about the opportunity and give their assent. They are given consent forms for parents to sign in order to participate. The group focuses on self-esteem, healthy relationships, bullying, and healthy expression of emotion among other things. The group meets one time per week for one hour in the school, for a total of 10 weeks once per year.
