A grief group was developed in conjunction with local churches in a rural partnering community. The group was developed and is run by a psychological intern in the community. The purpose of the group is to give the individuals in the community space to express various kind of grief in a group counseling setting. The primary kind of grief that is expressed is grief over the death of loved ones. There is also discussion surrounding the loss of close relationships. The focus of the group is to create a safe space for expression of grief and to provide educational materials for members of the group related to grief. The group meets weekly for 6 weeks at a local church once per year.
