The City of Northwood is located in the Northwood Township of Grand Forks County in the northeastern part of the State of North Dakota and has a population of 913.Grand Forks is 38 miles northeast of the City of Northwood, the Grand Forks Air Force Base 20 miles northeast, and the United States-Canada border 105 miles north. The fertile soil found in and around the city has from its beginning made it an attractive farming area. The production of raw agricultural products on the rich farmland make the City of Northwood an important service provider of western Grand Forks County, the eastern fourth of Nelson County, and the northern fourth of Steel and Traill Counties.
Established in January 2004, Valley Community Health Center (VCHC) is owned and operated by the people it serves. The Board of Directors is comprised of local users of the healthcare services. VCHC is a Federally Qualified Health Center receiving federal funds to provide access to all people in Larimore, Northwood,Grand Forks and the surrounding communities. These funds are used to provide monetary discounts to the underinsured and uninsured. VCHC is a non-profit, 501 (c) (3) community owned organization. All donations and contributions are tax deductible.

Valley Community Health Centers receive federal funding, which allows us to provide discounted healthcare services to all people in Northwood, Larimore,Grand Forks and the surrounding communities. Federal funds allow us to continuously improve the quality of healthcare we provide. With this type of funding, we can invest in increased staff and additional services such as dental and behavioral health care.
