ELL Teacher Education Undergraduate Program
ELL and Bilingual Teacher Endorsement Program (on-campus only)
Interested in working with culturally and linguistically diverse students? This program prepares you to become an English Language Learner (ELL) teacher, sometimes referred to as an English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher. While the program focuses on K-12 ELL education in the United States, those interested in bilingual education, teaching English overseas and working in adult ELL programs would benefit from the coursework.
Nationwide, there has been a 95% increase in the number of K-12 ELLs enrolled in U.S. schools since 1990, with over seven million ELLs currently enrolled in K-12 schools. Future projections of growth in the ELL population are high, and many areas in the nation are experiencing significant shortages of qualified ELL teachers. A career in ELL education opens up many doors for employment in a fascinating and growing field!
