Welcome from the Chair
On behalf of the faculty, staff, and students of the Department of Teaching and Learning in the College of Education and Human Development at the University of North Dakota, welcome to our department. Since its founding in 1883, the University of North Dakota has offered degrees in teacher education. We are proud to continue that tradition and currently offer certificates and degrees at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, online and face-to-face. Our faculty is comprised of highly respected teachers and researchers, who continuously seek ways to improve the quality of the educational experience of students both in our university classes and around the world.
The Department of Teaching and Learning is located in the newly renovated Education Building on campus in Grand Forks, North Dakota. We offer numerous undergraduate and graduate programs for aspiring teachers, as well as for practicing professionals in state-of-the-art classrooms, equipped with the latest teaching tools, first rate furnishings, and all of the equipment and technology needed for 21st century teaching and learning.

We offer undergraduate programs that lead to teacher licensure in the following areas:

We offer master's degrees in

We offer certificate programs in
• Autism Spectrum Disorder,
• College Teaching,

We offer doctoral degrees in Teaching & Learning, with areas of emphasis in

• Teacher Education,
• and Industrial Design and Technology.
All of our programs are accredited by the appropriate agencies (NCATE, ESPB, and the Higher Learning Commission) and are designed around the three themes that comprise the conceptual framework of our college: Teachers as Learners, Teachers as Articulate Visionaries, and Teachers as Active Agents of Learning. We view teaching and learning as a lifelong journey; a journey we promote, employ and enjoy.
