Summer Bilingual Writing Camp
Being multilingual is a strength. Use that strength to write your story.
UND’s Summer Bilingual Writing Camp celebrates and empowers the voices, identities, and well-being of bilingual and multilingual youth through writing. They will be led by highly educated and experienced coaches who will guide, support, and encourage students throughout the camp.

2026 Camp Schedule & Information
July 13 – 24, 2026 (2 weeks)
UND Education Building, 231 Centennial Drive in Grand Forks
- Camp takes place Monday through Friday from 1 pm to 4 pm at the UND Education Building.
- There is no cost for students to attend UND’s Summer Bilingual Writing Camp.
Activity Details
UND’s Summer Bilingual Writing Camp is designed for students in grades 5-8 (at the time of application) who use a language other than English at home.
Students will:
- Write in multiple genres using all the languages they know (bilingual writing proficiency is not required, and it is fine to write in only one language)
- Explore bilingual identity, experiences, and social-emotional well-being through writing
- Interact and collaborate with bilingual peers in a supportive environment guided by experienced K-12 teachers
Student Requirements
- Students in grades 5-8 (at the time of application) who are bilingual or multilingual and use a language other than English at home (with or without English).
How to Apply
- Complete the application form by June 5, 2026. Selected students will be contacted by email.
- Students who are younger or older and interested in participating are welcome to apply. They will be placed on a waitlist and contacted if a spot becomes available.

The 2026 Bilingual Writing Camp is supported by funding from the Spencer Foundation. This funding helps make the camp available free of charge to campers.
