College of Education & Human Development Scholarships
Over 100 CEHD students are awarded scholarships annually, thanks to the generosity of our donors. These scholarships help make a lasting impact on students who go on to teach and help others in our communities.
KIM DERANEY BAKKEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is awarded to one or more graduate students studying special education at the University of North Dakota.
COLLENE AND DR. WILLIAM BARES SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to one or more deserving students in early childhood education.
BECKHAM SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a Doctoral student in the Teaching and Learning Program within the College of Education and Human Development.
MYRON AND BETTY BENDER SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to recruit and/or retain students at the University of North Dakota with preference given to those students studying within the College of Education and Human Development in Teaching and Learning and from McIntosh, Dickey, Emmons, or Logan counties in North Dakota.
ORRIN N. BERGAN SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to junior or senior students at the College of Education and Human Development who plan to teach Humanities or English.
SANDRA & GERALD BISHOP EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students majoring in education with preference to a first-generation college student with a 3.0 GPA.
BOSCHEE EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students that are U.S. Citizens, admitted to the doctoral program in PK-12 leadership or Higher Education in the College of Education & Human Development at the University of North Dakota.
BEVERLY BREKKE SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to graduate students who show academic promise and have demonstrated participation and personal growth in the advancement of the teaching and research of Special Education with a specialization in Intellectual Disabilities.
BURRUS-LANGEY SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students within the College of Education and Human Development who are planning to become teachers.
JILL AND STEVE CHOLEWA PHYSICAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a sophomore, junior or senior student(s) pursuing a degree within the Kinesiology and Public Health Education Departments.

Awarded each year to students studying within the College of Education and Human Development.

NANCY & MICHAEL DIDONATO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
For undergraduate students who have demonstrated a deep concern for nurturing and instructing children. The donor wants the recipients of these scholarship awards to have an awareness of the need to become knowledgeable of methods of raising safety awareness.
MATILDA NELSON ERICKSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students majoring in Special Education. Recipients are North Dakota residents of high moral character and who demonstrate the desire and aptitude to lead successful lives and engage in fulfilling special education careers.
LISA ERIKSMOEN SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students studying within the College of Education and Human Development at the University of North Dakota.
ETA CHAPTER OF DELTA KAPPA GAMMA, ND SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded annually to a junior or senior student enrolled in the Teacher Education Program within the College of Education and Human Development and is an established resident of North Dakota.

For students majoring in education with preference to a first-generation college student.
JAMES R. FLEEKER, SR. SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to one or more students earning a degree in Kinesiology and Public Health within the College of Education and Human Development.
ELTON & PATRICIA A. FORS SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to Secondary Mathematics Education majors and/or a female Kinesiology major who plan to teach physical education and health. Preference is given to qualified graduates of Drake, ND High School, or Aberdeen Central High School, Aberdeen, SD.
FRISTAD FAMILY CENTER FOR EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
To support one or more scholarships for students studying Special Education maintaining a 3.0 GPA and have financial need.
DONNA & MICHAEL GILLEN STUDENT TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP
Provide one or more scholarships to a current University of North Dakota student(s) who is in their student teacher semester in the College of Education and Human Development.
JANE A. (DICKSON) GRAVELINE SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students pursuing their master’s degree in the Counseling Program. Preference shall be given to students who wish to focus on addiction or community mental health.
HERB & STELLA GRAY MEMORIAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a student in their junior year who is pursuing a career in teaching. Recipients shall possess those skills necessary to become a caring and dedicated teacher.
WILLIAM & MARILYN GUY EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students in elementary education or educational leadership who are in the top 50% of their class in the College of Education and Human Development.
SARA FRITZELL HANHAN SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students at the undergraduate or graduate level majoring in early childhood education at the University of North Dakota.
JIM & MARYDALE HANSEN EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
To provide one or more scholarships for incoming freshmen planning to major within the College of Education and Human Development.
RICHARD HILL SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a full-time student pursuing graduate studies in educational administration at the University of North Dakota with a demonstrated commitment to the education of elementary, middle, or secondary school children.
HOEKSTRA TEACHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to teacher education students who identify as a refugee or a person who has been resettled to the United States, or who is a second-generation refugee/resettled individual.
BETTY & FLOYD ILJANA SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students pursuing their degree within the College of Education and Human Development at the University of North Dakota to become science teachers.
GAIL INGWALSON MIDDLE LEVEL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to one or more students pursuing their B.S.E.D. degree with preference given to Middle Level Education students.

Awarded to one or more students working toward a graduate degree in Educational Leadership within the College of Education and Human Development.
JULIA ISENSEE KEEGAN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students majoring in health and physical education at the University of North Dakota, with preference given to female students.
FRANK & CARRIE KOVNICK MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a senior or graduate level student pursuing studies in education who is of good moral character, has a proven record of academic achievement, and shows potential for a successful career in the field of education.
DONALD K. AND ANN M. LEMON SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a graduate student with high moral character, an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above and a graduate GPA of 3.5 or above, a demonstrated commitment to educational excellence through effective teaching or leading and is preparing for public school administration in North Dakota or Minnesota.
MARY HEATHER MACMASTER SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students interested in gifted education within the College of Education and Human Development.
MATH & SCIENCE TEACHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students preparing to teach math or science at the middle school or high school level, with preference given to female students.
STACY (VINGER) & PERRY MATTERN SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to one or more students studying Special Education with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, financial need, and/or are from rural/farm communities in western North Dakota defined as west of the Missouri River and Highway 83.
MINARD & F. JEAN MCCREA UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a student in Teaching and Learning with a minimum sophomore level standing and a grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The recipient should be a North Dakota resident, preferably from Barnes County, with intent to teach in North Dakota for a minimum of two years.
MINARD & F. JEAN MCCREA GRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to a student in Educational Leadership with an established grade point average of 3.0. The recipient should be a North Dakota resident, preferably from Barnes County, with intent to provide leadership in North Dakota schools for a minimum of two years.
LEONHARD P. MICKELSEN GRADUATE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to graduate students planning to enter any field of classroom teaching who demonstrate financial need and the professional potential to be successful in their chosen field of classroom teaching. Recipients must also have completed at least half of the required course work toward a degree in their chosen field.
SANDRA MODISETT MEMORIAL KINESIOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to one or more student(s) majoring in Kinesiology or Public Health Education within the College of Education and Human Development.
SUSAN MOSOLF MEMORIAL SPECIAL EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to current University of North Dakota students with expressed interest in Special Education in the College of Education and Human Development. Recipient shall have a proven record of academic achievement and the strong potential to succeed in the future.
JOHN & JOANN MUUS SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students studying within the College of Education and Human Development, with preference given to students studying Elementary Education.
NDAD GIBBENS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students studying Special Education within the College of Education and Human Development, with preference given to students from North Dakota, those who intend to work in North Dakota, students with a 2.0 GPA or higher, or those students who are working toward their master's degree.
RALPH B. & CORBY D. NEWMAN SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to one or more students within the College of Education and Human Development who are pursuing a teaching degree.
HARVEY & MELANIE NOTEBOOM EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to one or more junior or senior students studying within the College of Education and Human Development, with preference going to residents of North Dakota or Northwest Minnesota, having a proven record of high academic performance.
JACK & KRISTEN PARIS FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
To provide one or more awards to undergraduate students, with preference to North Dakota residents, earning a degree in Special Education or Elementary Education within the College of Education and Human Development.
VITO PERRONE EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Provided to serious students of educational scholarship and practice who have the potential for becoming outstanding educational leaders, are of good character, have above average grades, and intend on a professional career in education.
CYNTHIA & TODD RAMAGE STUDENT TEACHER SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students pursuing a degree in teaching who are entering their fourth year and will be student teaching.
RITA FOUNDATION MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to one or more qualified students earning a degree in elementary education within the College of Education and Human Development. Recipients shall be of high moral character and demonstrate the desire and ability to become successful teachers and role models for elementary age children.
MARK & GLORIA SANFORD SCHOLARS SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to two junior or senior students within the College of Education and Human Development; one in Elementary Education and one in Secondary Education, with preference to a graduate from any Grand Forks, ND high school.
HOWARD, ARLENE, HENRY & MARIE SKJERVEM SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students enrolled within the College of Education and Human Development at the University of North Dakota.
SUDA SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students enrolled within the College of Education & Human Development at the University of North Dakota.
PAUL & BELLE THOMAS SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to students that are of strong moral character and have high potential to develop necessary skills to become outstanding educators.
VESELEYVILLE SPIRIT SCHOLARS SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded students in Early Childhood Education, at the University of North Dakota with preference to a Spirit Lake Tribal member. The student recipient could be a mentor to a future recipient.
PAT WARCUP SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded to one or more students within the Physical Education, Exercise Science and Wellness Department, or the College of Education and Human Development at the University of North Dakota.
JENNIFER (HOLTH) WINKELS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Awarded for one or more scholarships for students who are working, or plan to work, with individuals on the autism spectrum. Students in graduate programs in Applied Behavior Analysis and Special Education are eligible to apply. Students in other programs in the College may also be eligible if they can demonstrate their intent or training will prepare them to work with individuals with autism.
